Happy 4th of July

The Scottish Tartans Museum and Heritage Center Inc. invite one and all to discover your heritage.  When you visit our museum, nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, you will feel the connection to your Scottish Roots.  Many ask why are we here? Franklin is a small town in NC but the beauty of the mountains surrounds us here and from the beginning the founders of the museum, felt like they belonged.  Maybe because of the many folks before us that were of Scottish/Celtic Heritage that left their footprints for us to follow . Dr. Gordon Teal of Teallach was the founder back in 1988 when the museum started out in Highlands, NC.  The museum was relocated in Franklin where it is today.  This museum is the ONLY tartans museum in the U.S.  We are a non-profit that is supported by museum memberships, generous donations, and sales from our gift shop.  We sell many quality items from custom made kilts to  kilt hose and shoes.  Highland accessories are available online and in the store. We have a good selection of books for children as well as Scottish history.  If you haven't checked us out, please come in.  Let us look up your family name and see which tartans your name is affiliated with.
